As an incredibly talented songwriter, Mary wrote the Chorus and sang the female vocals for the song ‘Same Love’ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. She performed that song on stage alongside Madonna in perhaps one of the most memorable Grammy performances to date. 

In this Creator Session, Mary digs into personal stories about her trauma, bi-polar disorder, and the constant shame that has influenced much of her work - but most deeply her recent album, Grief Creature. 

She says that Grief Creature is her life’s work - “my masterpiece, a break-up album to shame, an ode to mental illness, a love letter to hope.” 

Mary is an artist, activist, singer/songwriter, poet - a creator. But most importantly she is an inspiration and we are lucky to have her join us for Creator Sessions.
